Trimble Machine Control/GPS Technician

Roles and Responsibilities:

Applicant will be responsible for:

  • Contractors GPS/UTS and Machine Control units; checking equipment in and out to field grade checkers. 
  • Assist project staff and field staff in setup of projects and machine control  
  • Assist in project modeling and use of business center
  • Help troubleshoot field issues with Grade Checkers, Field Grade Control Tech and Superintendents 

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

Applicant must have experience using Trimble systems:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience using Trimble systems
  • GPS
  • UTS

Preferred Skills: 

  • TBC Modeling
Field Grade Control Tech

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Set up bases and systems for project site
  • Calibrate site and equipment daily 
  • Work with Superintendent and operators to ensure project grades are accurate
  • Assist with onsite trouble shooting of machine control issues
  • Work with Machine Control Tech to ensure equipment and machine control is working properly.
  • Responsible for grade accuracy per project plans and specs

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Must have a minimum 5 years’ field experience with grade control
  • Must have a minimum 2 years’ experience using Trimble systems
  • Familiar with GPS systems
  • Familiar with UTS systems
  • Use of laser levels for site work 
  • Experience with utility, building footings, and civil site work

Preferred Skills:

  • Field model building in Trimble systems
Heavy Civil Superintendent

Roles and Responsibilities:

Superintendents are responsible for:

  • Understanding of plans and specifications
  • Interaction with project owners 
  • Daily direction of work for crews
  • Ensuring project production rates are being met
  • Onsite coordination with subcontractors to ensure work is proper
  • Daily inspections of site work to ensure proper, safe work 
  • Collection and project coding of employees 
  • Entering daily reports, daily quantities, and timecards into software 
  • Provide weekly schedule look ahead for daily scheduling of trucking, equipment, and labor needs.

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

Applicant must have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience running civil projects; including roadway, underground utilities, bridge and building site work construction 
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience working on heavy civil projects
  • Member of the Local 302 Operating Engineers Union (or ability to join)
  • CESCL Certification
  • OSHA Safety Classes
  • First Aid/CPR/AED

  • Use of HCSS HeavyJob Daily and Timecard entry
Construction Project Manager II

General Summary:

This position is responsible for overall direction, completion and financial outcome of construction projects ranging from $5-25 million.

Essential functions:

  • Coordinate with estimators in preparing budgets from project estimates.
  • Prepare and maintain the project schedule with scheduled updates.
  • Provide accurate daily tracking and cost controls.
  • Provide positive communication and support in meeting project goals.
  • Provide engineering analyses and calculations for construction requirements.
  • Oversee preparation of submittals and timely procurement of materials.
  • Coordinate with senior company manager for project crushing and paving requirements.
  • Prepare subcontracts and process subcontractor pay estimates.
  • Coordinate with superintendent to assist with mobilizing and procurement of project support and equipment needs. Interface with company equipment manage to assure meeting project equipment needs.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with owners, agencies, and subcontractors.
  • Assure project compliance with permits and environmental regulations.
  • Meet company safety goals and review project safety compliance.
  • Provide accurate monthly project revenue and cost forecasts to ensure profitability goals are achieved
  • Provide weekly construction reports to superintendent to assure production schedules and budgets are achieved.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for the project. Maintain positive team building and professional relationships with all H C employees.

Education:

B.S. degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field in heavy civil construction.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years progressive experience in heavy civil construction.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in paving, grading, earthmoving, and heavy civil construction.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of construction earthwork, grading, paving, underground utilities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of union agreements and prevailing wage requirements.
  • Maintain ability to work in high production environment.
  • Demonstrate decision-making skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Excellent supervisory communication and organizational skills
  • Professional and positive representation of company.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to have close vision, and have the ability to focus and concentrate for periods at a time and perform essential work functions for an effective 8–10-hour work day. Project Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Tracking project production, trucking hours, quantities, labor mh/unit, and budge cost/unit
  • Assist project supervision in implementing HeavyJob daily reporting
  • Jobsite assistance: Tracking deliveries and schedule deliveries of materials and inventory
  • Product Excel Spreadsheets and summaries of extra work for cost presentation
  • Submittal preparation and timely submittals of contract bid items.
  • Assisting Project Manager and Project Superintendent with scheduling
  • Assist Environmental Compliance officer with SWPPP implementation and compliance.
  • Apply for necessary project permits: Waste disposal site, water use permits, etc.
  • If project require Contaminated soil QA Plans, assist with timely production of plans.
  • Assist Project Manager and Superintendent as assigned

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 1-2 years construction field experience
  • Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree program 
  • Use of Microsoft Excel, Project, and Word
  • Organized and deadline driven

Preferred Skills:

  • GPS/UTS, machine control on the jobsites to help operators with becoming comfortable with use, calibration and trouble shooting.
  • Use on Trimble GPS Systems
  • Experience with HCSS HeavyJob tracking software.
