HC Contractors is now a core part of UIC Commercial Services’ newly formed Alaska Civil Construction division, which also includes Qayaq Construction, a respected name in Alaska’s heavy civil construction industry. This move brings significant benefits to HC Contractors, including access to greater resources, wider expertise, and the ability to take on larger and more complex infrastructure projects across the state.
HC Contractors was founded by Bill Hoople in 1993, acquired by Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation (UIC) in 2022, and moved to UIC’s Commercial Services division in 2024. UIC is the Alaska Native Village Corporation for Utqiaġvik and is one of the state’s top ten revenue generating businesses.
Hoople has been promoted to Chairman of HC Construction Holders. He will continue to provide his decades of experience and leadership as the company enters this new phase of growth.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunities provided by this alignment with UIC Commercial Services and Qayaq Construction,” Hoople said. “We’ve always been proud of the work we do to keep communities connected on Alaska’s road system. As a part of Alaska Civil Construction, we will continue to operate with the same values that have made us successful: high-quality work, an investment in resources and technology, strong client relationships and a dedication to our team.”
